Born in Taipei, he has lived in New York for the past 15 years, serving as an associate professor of art at the New York Institute of Technology; executive director of the United States Arts and Sciences Association; consultant for the Acer Digital Arts Centre, juror of the International Digital Art Competition, and US columnist for the Weekly Times. He has also worked as a consultant artistic director for transnational advertising companies including American-based Mikan Advertising and British-based Sphinx Advertising & Communications, providing services to global clients including Cartier, Davidoff, Citibank, 3M, Coca-Cola and Nestle Coffee. Mr. Lin has won countless advertising and design awards. As an internationally renowned new media artist, he has worked with holographic art and multimedia installations over many years and has exhibited widely in art museums around the world.

Over the years his work has won many major art prizes, these have included Artist of Excellence at ARTEC’95, Japan; Shearwater Foundation Award for Creative Holography, USA (1996); Artist of Excellence at ARTEC’97; participating on behalf of Chinese Taiwan at the Venice Biennale in 2001; Yugoslavia Biennial Award (2002); and two first prizes at The Open Competition, Museum of Public Art, Taiwan, with First Prize from the Science and Technology Museum.

In 2003 he was curator for Chinese Taiwan at the 50th Venice Biennale. In 2004 he was appointed chief executive of International Art Exhibition Planning Company and consultant to the Taiwan IT Strategy Committee, as well as establishing an art broadcasting radio station at the PS1 Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, reporting on Asian art news. In 2006 he was one of the curators of Shanghai Biennial, and in 2007 he was a juror and curator for Ars Electronica Festival.
