New Media Art

As the Director of Trans-Sonic Lab in the Center of Art and Technology at Taipei National University of the Arts, Wang Fu-Jui is well-known for his sound art and interactive art. In 1993, he established "Noise", the very first experimental music brand and magazine in Taiwan. In 2000, he joined “ETAT” – one of the pioneering experimental art groups featuring real-time interaction as well as one of the few projects experimenting, practicing, and exploring digital art as a lab-like group in the development of Taiwan’s new-media art. He has helped promoted the sound art exhibition Bias and separated sound art as an independent category in “Taipei Digital Art Awards,” securing sound art’s status as a unique genre in Taiwan’s digital art.” In recent years, he has curated “Digital Art Festival Taipei” and the sound art performance “TranSonic” (which started in 2008), leading a new trend in the development of Taiwan’s digital art. For the past decades, he has been devoted to the practice and the promotion of sound art as well as digital art.

His artistic practice is not only seen in Taiwan. Recently, he has frequently travelled around the world, presenting his sound art performance – which features experimental sound as a form of art-making/sound performance as his main subject – in Beijing, Paris, Venice, New Zealand, Tokyo, Hong Kong, San Francisco, New York, Berlin, and many other cities.
