Huang Sun-Quan, PhD of Building and Planning from National Taiwan University, is currently a full-time Assistant Professor at the Graduate Institute of Interdisciplinary Art, National Kaohsiung Normal University, and guest professor in the School of Inter-Media Art, China Academy of Art. Huang also guest lectures in the Department of Cultural Studies, Lingnan University, Hong Kong, Institute of Trans-disciplinary Art in Taipei National University of the Arts and the Graduate Institute of Architecture in Tainan National University of the Arts, etc. Huang is known for his long-term research and intervention in media, internet culture and social activism. He was the editor-in-chief of POTS Weekly, which he established in 1994, and was the director of Cultural Express from 2007 to 2009. He was the director of the Anti-Green Bulldozer Movement in 1997, and made the documentary film Green Bulldozer: the Rise of Your New Homeland. In 2004, he created one of the most influential blogs in Taiwan (twblog.net) and Taiwan Independent Media Center (tw.indymedia.org) as part of the network of Global Independent Media Center (indymedia.org).

In recent years, he began his curatorial and artistic practice and run Monkey-Wrenching Art Center in the southern Taiwan. His works participated in the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture (2007, 2013), Memoscape in the Cube Project Space, Juke Box of Kaohsiung in Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Solo show U-topophilia in Red Brick Art Museum, Beijing, etc. He curated Treasure Hill GAPP, Cross-disciplinary in Two Cities Exhibition, Survival Scene, Lulu Shur-tzy Hou Solo Exhibition- Look toward the other side- Song of Asian Foreign Brides in Taiwan, Transnational Migratory Birds in Taiwan in Kaohsiung Labor Museum, etc. He is the author of the books Green Bulldozer, Unless We Look for Beauty and Architecture and Utopia. He translated DIY-Party and Protest in 90’s Britain, edited Cultural Annals of Greater Taipei, Dreams along the Path-Secrets of Literates, The Hidden Urban Soul and others. Currently, he is working on “Till We Have Faces!” (multitude.asia) Project, co-ops projects as an artivist across architecture, media, social movements and arts.
