Wang Sheng-Hung is an art critic and an Assistant Professor of Graduate Institute of Art Studies, National Central University, Taiwan. Wang received his Ph.D. from the Department of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts; he was the appointed nominator of Taishin Arts Award (2017-2018). An awardee of the first prize of the 9th Digital Art Critics Award and the special prize of Taiwan Arts Critics of the National Cultural and Arts Foundation, Wang has been engaging in the discourses of art critics and writing of contemporary Taiwan since 2004. Wang’s articles were issued in Museum’s publications and professional art journals, such as Artco Monthly, Artist Magazine, ACT Art Critique of Taiwan, and Modern Art, etc.

Wang’s research interests include contemporary video art, performance art, and creative physicality. With the focuses of the influence of bureaucratic mechanism on bodily movement and the mode of expenditure, Wang concerns topics related to bio-politics amidst political acceleration. He believes that art critic is the artist’s faithful companion and interlocutor and an archaeologist who combs through sensible discourses of art. Moreover, Wang has faith in the capacity of the contemporary art of Taiwan, whence particular perspective and substantial art theories can be grown; and art writing contributes to the manoeuvre.
