The Broken Flower
2018
In the spring of 2011, two months after the passing of my grandfather, I dreamt of him. In my dream, I was climbing up a flight of winding and distorted stairs; my grandfather was sitting at the top. I couldn’t help but burst into tears at the sight of him. Grandfather asked why I was crying. I answered, “Because you’re not here anymore.” He replied, “Then it’s not an issue of time.” Seven years have since passed. Death has taken its toll; beyond the sadness lies even more confu ...

Last Seen
2019-2021

Those surveillance images present “the last images” of the femal ...

Love Remains
2010-2016
Taking the path of photography, Love Remains is a private ceremony in which emotion is the offering. Bestowed with an extraordinarily powerful sense of intuition, Huang explores both the chiaroscuro and calculations of life. The fullness of her confidence is manifested through a naked awareness; yet it backlashes, creating tension. Shot on black and white film, each photo proposes visceral content that breaks down taboos and expresses one true conviction. The creator revolts within the ...

The Self Forgotten
2011
The identification of self has always been an intriguing subject to me. Quite often, while looking into the mirror, I cannot help asking myself the same questions: “Who is it that is within and behind the image I call my-self? Are the observer and the observed identical? If not, in what ways and to what extent are they different?” As I have noticed, somehow bewildered, there exists another personality, sealed or lurking, in this body I claim mine. I sense an alien being, aware of its yearning ...
