Kuo’s major works mainly focus on exploring the vertigo experience through orbiting subjective viewpoints on movement, related to concepts such as aim, axis and balance. These continuous recalibrations and dislocations are not only related to the creator’s daily, inner bodily experience, but also connected to Taiwan’s repeated colonization from past; a restless experience in which the society was forced to readjust and conform to a new externally imposed standard, and yet, project a continuous persuasion towards “Future”(Stability) beyond the country’s suspended situation.

Born 1984 in Keelung, Taiwan. Graduated From Taipei National University of the Arts with M.F.A. degree in New Media Art. Currently studying his Meisterschüler degree in State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, Germany. His work features moving image, photography and installation. He has participated in national and international exhibitions and festivals, such as at EIGEN + ART Lab, Germany (2020), “12ème festival Bandits-Mages” (France, 2011) , “International Streaming Festival, The Hague–6th edition” (The Netherlands/ World Wide Web, 2011), “Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival” (Malaysia, 2011), “SIMULTAN #7 – “Imaginary”, Festival for electronic arts and music”(Romania, 2011), “12th European Media Art Festival” (Germany, 2012). In 2012, he was as a resident artist at Society for Arts and Technology [SAT] in Montreal, Canada, and in 2014 Kuo Hsin-Hui received the “S-An Art Award” (Taipei, Taiwan). He currently lives and works between Taipei and Stuttgart.

Vacuum2 – Time Frame
“Vacuum2–Timeframe” is a series work of previous one: ”Vacuum”(2011). Continuing the spatial inquiry of self-observation, this work tries to reverse a standard monopod into a custom photographic tool, leads the installation to affect camera, carrying up a invisible「framing」movement(unceasingly alternating between height lift and freefall)as a dialogue model into space, to raise question toward the message manipulation of mass media in contemporary society.

Vacuum
“VACUUM" is an absentminded description of a common anxiety within contemporary mindscape. This idea is expressed through the digital manipulation of a “FAKE" swing image movement: copy, reverse. The author creates a sequence from point A to point B in an arc movement, lets the camera shoot toward the fulcrum (the viewing platform itself) to start an observation. Then, this is joined with the same sequence in reverse, so the motion becomes A-B-A. The content goes from the starting poi ...
