Over 2000 clock hands (including hour hands, minute hands, and second hands) are lifted and floating in the dark space as if without gravitational force and with time frozen and still. The hands are sharp at one end and rounded at the other, symbolizing a spear and a shield (Chinese word for “contradiction” is literally "Spear-Shield”. As the hands flutter in varying frequencies of fast or slow due to how the wind blows or how the air moves, they seem to be searching for a sense of balance while being hesitant and unsure.

I will be surrounded by these suspended and unbalanced clock hands and will be putting facial sheet masks on my body to express a state of pressure, forlornness, anxiety, suppression, and imbalance caused by the dissipation of time. Through the endless extending mirror on the floor, a contrast is created between elusion and reality, sparking a dialogue with the other Self.

Putting facial sheet mask on is supposed to be an intimate gesture, an act conducted by modern people to prevent aging or becoming unattractive. The repeated gestures of putting and removing facial sheet masks are representative of my internal fear for the passing time. Moreover, facial sheet mask is also a form of “mask”, symbolic of disguise and hiding.
