I perform “refuge prostrations” repetitively on certain wood pattern puzzle floor mat. My ultimate goal is to perform it 111,111 times. When I finish one, I will push the button of the counter which is placed in front of the mat. Every time when I come to an end, I will keep track of the number. With the passing of time, my body has created a white mark on the mat. So far, the mark is the result of my 80,791 ritual practices. Sculpture can be generally divided into the addictive process and the subtractive process. Body Inscription is a subtractive sculpture. The body becomes the chisel, shaping it with accumulated friction. Meanwhile, the practice of prostrations allows us to tame our self-pride, encouraging us to be subject to the Buddhist Truth as we let go of the pride and egos through the physical movement. It is a spiritual sculpture.
