Venue: the sand-bank between Jong Shing Bridge and Jong Shiaw Bridge, Taipei County, Taiwan.
Auspicious Cloud, selected for the 7th Art Exhibition of Taipei County, was my very first work in Taiwan. A cloud sculpted by inflatable synthetic PVC leather was floating above the sandbank along Tamsui river. While it went up, its silvery surface was like a mirror reflecting the surrounding weather and environment. The simplistic form became a pure visual attraction to drivers and pedestrians that invoked their imagination towards clouds. When the night came, the balloon was lit up by projection bulbs inside. It looked like a UFO from afar. Accompanying with the busy traffic over the bridge, the work realized a surrealistic scene in reality.
