Venue: Sculpture Garden of National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
To commemorate the 921 earthquake anniversary, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts curated The Chichi Ark Installation Art Exhibition at Sculpture Garden and invited me to participate. I made use of bamboo poles and chips to build arches, planted bamboo around and placed chairs made of bamboo. In Mandarin, “bamboo” and “construct” are homophones. Through this work, I would like to encourage the victims to take action – rebuilding their homeland. The restoration might be toiling and when they were tired, they could rest on the chairs and prepare for another day. Bamboo masters were also invited to make stools on site and share the energy and vitality of Construct with the public.
