Video is like the revisualization of humans’ dreams – the material created to capture the dreams in humans’ subconsciousness. Words are no longer free behind or in front of the screen. The independent and undivided scree expresses independent and undivided idea. Those which amaze us with indescribable surprises are good artworks to me. However, I cannot adopt such an absolutely objective perspective to evaluate a work in my dream. Video becomes the re-creation of dreams, but it is deprived of the immersive perception in the dream. The vacancy allows critique to take its place with various aesthetic theories. Dream can exist without definition, because there is no chance to examine it – but we can examine paintings and video works. It is so simple that one particular thought can be greatly emphasized and elaborated. For me, visual art is the remaking of dreams.
