The work satirizes that human beings keep trying using technology, such as computer software, biotechnology, virtual reality, gene modification, cloning technology, or artificial life to replace nature and to become creators of the world. Therefore, the artist creates an installation work allowing viewers to become creators. With the help of computer software, touchscreen, and the interactive system, the work produces simultaneous and interactive images, allowing viewers to participate in the process to create butterflies, through which human’s desire of creation is emphasized. As viewers walk into the exhibition space, they will soon be attracted by the image of a giant aquarium. Various kinds of butterflies flying in the water and making deep-sea water sound as if they were indulging in the virtual world. Right in front of the surreal image is a cube equipped with a touchscreen which invites viewers to become part of the work. Viewers can draw the images of butterflies they see, and they will feel like creators when seeing the butterflies they have created flying into the screen. It is how the artist adopts virtual technology (interactive system, computer program, or animation images) to satirize how technology fulfills the human desire.
