These two digital photo paintings are extensions of Swastika Eyes, and each deals with the subject of seeing through the respective themes of Detour and Tremor. Presented under the same pictorial context is not just the displacement of the line of sight; it also incorporates shifts in the corresponding timeframe with the video work, Swastika Eyes.

Swastika Eyes ─ Detour depicts the floating state of seeing through slanted eyes, with objects seen altered and rearranged. While selecting its backdrop, this piece makes reference to the landscape depicted in the background, while the camera lens is moved in parallel to it to capture corresponding sets of images. Images from the two different angles are then post-produced and partially combined, resulting in an image that simultaneously shows “extra” components and also parts that are “blocked”, with interconnected relationships between three different perspectives reflected.

Swastika Eyes ─ Tremor shows as the visual perspective is altered, tremors with the line of sight then causes shifts in the original landscape. The overlapping peripheries of the two buildings in the image seep into each other, as the gap in the realistic space is wiped out. Displacements and residual images emerge from certain parts of the landscape, with its features reproduced, with an organic space constructed through integrations and alterations between the new landscape and the original.

Swastika Eyes ─ Detour and Swastika Eyes ─ Tremor are based on different narrative perspectives, which are used to process shifts in views prompted by drifting sights, as actual positions of the subjects being seen were unaltered. Individual changes with the objects are also producing interconnected affects on the other objects contained in the image, as new urban landscapes are formed through the connections. To a certain extent, the derailment with the original line of sight, or the emergence of multiple lines of sight, has allowed the objects being seen to detach from being passively dominated by the eye sight. On the contrary, it is confronting our prolonged customary belief with seeing. We are accustomed to using the same approach to see the eternal world due to the way that our eyes are naturally constructed. However, when the eyeballs are able to dictate their own movements, images in the external world are able to exist in various ways. In the silence of the gaze, where the eye lands is always a scenery infused with the potential for prolific dialogues, as an alternative parallel universe emerges before the eye through unique ways of seeing.
