The ‘Confessional’ is a project Chen-Hung Chiu had been working during his artist residency in Paris. Everyday he promenaded on the streets to collect old furnitures abandoned by local residents. He tore them apart and cleaned them, according to different features and characteristic from these material, step by step, he built up a confessional-like installation. For him, the process of collecting not only connected him with the city and the citizens but also found him a way to create a theme: a closed form about monument. Which its source came from those forgotten objects around the city corner, and eventually got settled upon the the work as different file case and codes, trying to recall those memories and ghosts hiding behind the look of the city.

In the process, the artist used a found postcard which came with the furniture, he re-established a special relationship by using the sentences written on the postcard. He murmured the content towards all the objects he found on the streets, and install the sound within the confessional. He tried to connect all the individuals in this strange city with those words, from the family to the community, then all the figures gradually forgotten by the city would be summoned to where they should belong.
