In Buddhism, the "Three Lives" refer to the past, the present and the future. "The Canonized Karma of Maha with Mandalas" series materialize the image of the future, Yang Mao-lin has borrowed the Buddhist concepts of space (i.e. the East, the West, the Middle-earth) and time (i.e. the past, the present, the future). All the pieces in the series are plated for gleaming shine to create a solemn and peaceful atmosphere. The gleaming gilded statues fit perfectly with the serene, solemn and holy atmosphere that Buddhism pursues, and thus create a greater sense of physical and spiritual coherence.
