In our lives, there is a lot of unexpected and inevitable pressure and suppression. Perhaps in the high EQ programming or functions of our brains, they dissipate. These dissipated micro elements invade our cells, coexisting with our bodies and souls. With the Shallow Breath 2 Exhibition, I attempt to create a visually placid but implicitly tumultuous space. The exhibition has three main elements. The first centers around a black, 30-centimeter-long rectangular platform. In its middle, there's a cylindrical, well-like space, where countless small, white horses are placed (by covering the interior of the well with mirror finish stainless steel, it creates an infinite reflection). The second element is computer screens that are spread and hung throughout the space's left side. The screens show the visuals of the screensaver, symbolizing the complex functions and content that are blocked behind it. The third element, spread throughout the space, is flowing waters. There is water circulating within pipes, or water moving furiously, like whirlpools, in acrylic pipes. The distance and loneliness between people has been a central theme in my work for many years. With this work, I want to express the hidden dangers of life and mental tension caused by ever-changing forces. Besides that, the work also presents many contrasting elements for the audience to ponder upon, such as the interior/exterior, lightness/darkness, stillness/movement, finite/infinite…allowing the audience experience that instant of being underwater, unable to breath deeply, but also not yet suffocated-such is the hidden worries of life.
