In Taiwanese, the phrase khan-thua often refers to maliciously implicating and linking previously unrelated things to fabricate questionable truths. Ignoring the negative aspects, the language of khan-thua is actually full of imaginative creativity. This exhibition attempts to utilize this kind of language to link previously unrelated languages and objects, which imparts a new meaning on objects and creates new things. The plastic bag is one of my favorite objects-it is closely related to the human with its connection to our daily life and bodies, and its relatively paradoxical temporariness. It is concretely utilitarian yet also embodies an uncertain abstractness because of its soft and thin materiality-this opens up its visual imaginary possibilities: through rubbing, pulling, compressing, the plastic bag is khan-thua-ed into a house with a chimney, Ultraman, Buzz Lightyear, a corset…
