Paradox=> A word that just sounds very paradoxical.
This artwork came to be during my aesthetics class. Junior year in college I started to attend aesthetics courses, and I discovered that I had no clue what the teachers were talking about. When I came across those new terms, they felt quite novel and also strange and detached for me. I also saw many aesthetics books that used more vocabularies to describe certain terms, and it felt like how we learned English, by memorizing lots of vocabs, or else, the articles would be totally foreign to me. It appeared to me that strange terms were being explained with more unfamiliar terms, and I had no way of interjecting or interpreting; it felt quite distant from me.
Paradox=> Lifting of the index finger is a paradox.
Perhaps this was an unintentional joke, but I tried to use a simpler approach to use my body to directly feel those foreign words, as I used a playful method to interpret those strange cultures that were unfathomable to me; then, paradox appeared in the midst of my playful actions. Lifting of the index finger is a paradox, as I begin to use my index finger to lift up anything, from a hammer, a fire extinguisher, a slipper, and even to lift myself up with myself.
