For Yang Mao-lin, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” is full of peculiarities, a tale of confusion and absurdity seldom seen in a children’s tale. This is not a story with a clearly developed plot line. From the beginning to the end Alice runs hither and yon, blindly and without purpose. All of this is really quite interesting to him so he has created his own version of “Alice” the interest, which is in the chaos and confusion only a giant young girl could create. This is the sort of indulgence only an artist may engage.
