We often feel as if we know certain people, in a sea of people, there's bound to be familiar stranger faces. This a condition where two previously unrelated people become mixed up in our visual memory. This form of observation is often very subjective, but it activates a faint and little known aspect of our human senses. this is why semiotic theory Umberto Eco says: the perception of image signs are a result of the combination of personal history and social context. The concept of likeness is actually similar to the concept of jokes-It's completed only through the reaction of an receiving audience. This is a gray area of psychological perception and biological coincidence. In this exhibition, I found two pairs of young women who look alike but are not related. I arranged for each to meet as a pair and recorded their reactions to each other. Additionally, as a spectator, I visually recorded their likeness and exhibited it along with childhood pictures that they provided. This is a continuation of my exploration of the relationship between "name" and "appearance" and my work in 2000, where I convened thirteen people with the exact same names.
