HOWL in Howl Space series began in 2013. Chen chose Howl Space, an art space at Tainan, and the prose poem shared the same name Howl by American poet Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) as inspirational text. The multi-layered complicated descriptions call out different times and cultural meanings. It further discusses and projects some issues and circumstances of Taiwan in contemporary era, such as authority structure, gender politics, and marginal groups, etc. Chen projects collective sub-consciousness under repression with an individual story-telling approach. Artworks in this series include Howl Space, Prophecy, March 25, I'm with you in Rockland, and Mother.
