Moving Resonance is a digital sound art trilogy created with three pre-set algorithms, including Self-division, The Selective Choice, and The Flowing Body. The work is inspired by the artist’s personal experiences, while the three algorithms applied to the three parts can be understood as the artist’s philosophy of life. A recursion-like algorithm is repetitively used in the work. “Recursion” refers to a method of defining functions in which the function being defined is applied within its own definition so that the “variable” can be processed and accumulated through repetition in a self-similar way. The concept echoes the artist’s understandings of life as revealed in Moving Resonance: when we find ourselves in trouble, we also go back to the previous experiences to evaluate the current situation and to make a decision. Every decision is based on the accumulation of previous life experiences, and the final result can be traced back to the starting point.
