"INSIDE OUT" is a response to my own experience of displacement and belonging since moving from Taiwan to New York City in 2004, documenting my observations of trans-cultural displacement and the presentation of self. The amalgamation of people from all different walks of life, and how they are relating to the environment became central to my point of view as a photographer, especially in the unexpected moment within an individual's routine.

Storefronts and reflections appear frequently and serve as metaphors of the known and unknown, and the shifting nature of identity. These images are, in a way, self-portraits that represent the in-between state of mind arising from the alienation and similarity of the trans-cultural environment. It further demonstrates
the mixed feelings that resonate to every viewer, resulting from the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious.
