Second Life: Habitat
Working with National Taiwan University’s Department of Entomology, the artist bred thousands of Asian tiger mosquitoes in Second Life: Habitat, a project that integrated digital technology in an ecosystem. The mosquitoes went through stages of their lifecycle in the installation created, and were then killed by a bug zapper. Those “lives” were converted by a digital system and transformed into virtual avatars in a computer game. As the game progressed, the artist’s blood was used as food for ...

Taipei Robot Man 2.0: Infodemic II
This project took place in a traditional wet market. It aimed to explore the collective social changes in relation to our sensations caused by the pandemic. In this situational platform, fresh foods decay, life meets death, where humans and animals co-exist; thus virus, parasites and bacteria are enabled to carry ...

Ten Thousand Spirits
In Korea, the figure of the shaman stands out as the one who bridges the mortal and spirit worlds. Shamans are entrusted with the ability to communicate with nature spirits, ancestors or a culture’s gods and goddesses — and function variously as oracle, doctor, psychotherapist and beyond. The spirit of the shaman—known in Korea as manshin— does not travel somewhere else. Instead, gods, spirits or ancestors descend into the shaman, so that the shaman becomes a god herself. Exploring th ...
