Chang Keng-Hau was born in Tamsui in 1980. He received his artistic training at Taipei National University of the Arts and National Taiwan University of Arts, and worked with his brother Chang Geng-Hwa as “Luxury Borthers”. They are particularly talented in the expression of molding and the aesthetics of contour. Their earlier works focused on an intuitive expression of the forms that spoke their personal life experience. They grew up in an environment full of hardware and developed a fascination of mechanical devices and installation; hence, the use of gear wheels, sensors and motors in their works. However, amazingly, these cold, mechanical objects served as the props that realize their dreamlike scenes representing the images relating to the viewers’ childhood or fantasy. These concise, smooth sculptural art pieces sometimes are mixed with powered devices, sometimes LED lights or projection, and are presented without the icy quality of the chosen material that distances the viewers. On the contrary, it allows the viewers to separate themselves from the reality to appreciate a fantasy world of the piece. The two brothers worked together and individually and had exhibitions at IT Park and Taipei Fine Arts Museum, etc. They were also actively involved in the artistic productions in the fields of theater, movie industry and the TV industry. Now Chang Keng-Hau is one of the member of art group “LuxuryLogico”.
