The happiest thing in the world is to do what you like.” This, is Yu’s motto.
Creation is of special but difficult, and it is like creating your own brand. Yu was very ambitious and determined to his creation, which made young Yu have a really difficult life when he was young. Terracotta is the main material in Yu’s creation, and Yu puts the idea which he has been insisting on –keeping the natural form – into his works. He kept challenging the limitation and the possibility of clay, and finally developed the new method of brace, which looks like an ancient Chinese acupuncture. Therefore, the method made him created the solid works over the height of 1 meter and such as “the shadow in the wind” and “lotus”. Couple with that he also finds the way to combine Terracotta and metal, which leads to the emergence of the series of “iron with tender heart”. Besides his creation, Yu has been teaching in Wenshan Community College and HARURU workshop for promoting Terracotta for over ten years. Also, Okinawa Prefectural University of Art has been appointing Yu as visiting professor over twenty years.

Yu’s determination, enthusiasm and accomplishment to sculpture and his unique style draws Japanese artists’ attention and value his work a lot. Therefore, there is no border in Art. Distance cannot stop the beauty of Terrocotta, which has been deeply rooted in Taiwan.
