Huang Chih-Cheng (1988-)
Born in Miaoli and grew up in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Huang Chih-Cheng received his M.F.A. from Tunghai University. His outstanding performance has made him the winner of the 2015 Next Art Tainan, the recipient of the Selected Prize in Kaohsiung Awards 2014, The 10th Taoyuan Contemporary Art Award, and The Arising Artist Award of New Taipei City in 2011 and 2012. His artworks are collected by Tainan Museum of Fine Arts and National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. In 2015, Chih-Cheng was invited to numerous exhibitions, including joint exhibition ‘Forest Banquet’ at Regent Galleria and his solo exhibitions 'Roaming the Shores' and ‘Air Amusement’. In the same year, Chic-Cheng also participated in a joint exhibition ‘FINE ART / UNIVERSITY SELECTION’ in Tsukuba Museum of Art in Tsukuba, Japan.

Fascinated with the solidity and frailty of metal leaf, Chih-Cheng's art centers upon issues of sensation of time and life to death. He focus on the factors of phenomenon, questioning the reality of contemporary society through his own individual distinctiveness. He believes boundaries don’t really exist between everything, only what matters is how you look it. As an artist, he implies different formation of the world.

Dark Room
History is like a piece of aluminum foil oxidized and discolored by the passage of time: bruises gradually come out, forgotten memories inadvertently resurface, like a small splinter penetrating deeply into the skin. These pieces of sealed information flow indistinctly in the collective subconscious, waiting to be washed away and digested.

I spent my childhood in the countryside, I can remember my mom and grandma worked hard and soaked in sweat every day so sunlight can go through their clothes. I also remember the big wind blew up the clothes hung outdoors which became dancing people around. They turned out to be thrown away over time, everybody’s changing. What is actual memory? Tylosis Diary
Since my grandfather died, my family has drifted apart and abandoned the old house we used to live together. I go back to the house and paint latex on everywhere, walls, furniture, etc. Then peel them off, I display them in the form of clothes field, like a dry, ghostly diary sheet of our past.
