One and Two an Up and Down
2008-2009
One and Two an Up and Down is a series Cheng began after finishing her Fine Arts degree from Taipei National University of the Arts. After finishing her degree she remembers feeling a bit lost and bored, feeling the need to explore the world outside the school, outside any forms or rules from her previous academic training. With this in mind Cheng decided to give up painting and all studio based work. She wanted to explore space as a concept and this meant taking her art into the world that s ...

2010-2012

It was during a cold spell in the winter, so the whole hostel was empty and no tourists around except us. While I walked into the main hall I saw all the chairs were stacked high up against the wall, and every single chair leg was wearing ...

Sexy? Easy!
2014
The series titled “Sexy? Easy!” was inspired by these two words, “Sexy” and “Easy”. Ting Cheng wanted to discover and create a scene that was surrealistic, intriguing and ironic portraits composed of food, plants, artificial utensils and objects. She wanted to challenge the notion of what it means to be sexy, the colours she chose are bold and bright, the images are fun and playful, but also designed to make people feel a bit uncomfortable. For Cheng there is always a fine line between ...
