Painting

His creative process begins with styles of cartoons and comics. He created a funny character Xiaoming and worked on diverse topics and sites. Shocked by the change of coastal landforms in his hometown, which was so different from his childhood memory, he started to work on the theme of the relation between the environment and humans in 2008. He often juxtaposes and collages a variety of elements and images with humor, along with all kinds of human behavior including diving, dancing, rock climbing, to highlight issues such as air pollution, sea level rise, landslide, man-made landscape. His works inspire reflection on the ieraction between the environment and human beings by the somewhat absurd and alien scenntes.

Life-releasing Pond
2018-2019
The series of work is inspired by the images of artificial life-releasing ponds commonly seen in parks or temples. These life-releasing ponds are similar in forms as they all mimic the fake mountain landscape of Chinese courtyard and demonstrate an ideal scenery in miniature. Man-made Landscape
2017
Civilization is an interactive relation between men and nature, that is, the progressive process in which men continuously improve natural environment to better suite human life. Yet, is there an end to this process? The works combine the postures of human behavior and the objects which is used to replace or control nature in daily life. The connotation of them brings the indescribable awkwardness and ambivalence and thus raises doubts about civilization.
