Taiwanese art critic and independent curator born in Kaohsiung City, 1969. Li is a history of art doctorial candidate of Paris-Sorbonne University. Once a member of the Public Art Review Committee of counties in Central Taiwan, including Taichung, Changhua and Miaoli, Li is now a full-time associate professor at the Department of Fine Arts in Tunghai University.
Li's area of studies include art criticism, curation, contemporary calligraphy, ink paintings, comparative art history, public art, visual communication, digital content. One of the most important art critics of the middle generation in Taiwan, Li has written more than one hundred art critiques and papers to date with succinct language, incisive style and unique insights. In 2009, he was invited to the Second China Annual Art Critics Assembly in Songzhuang, Beijing to present his paper and deliver a speech. In 2010, his book A Theoretical System for Chinese Contemporary Calligraphic Art in Taiwan was awarded publication of excellence in the art and life of the Golden Tripod Awards for Publication by the Government Information Office of Taiwan.
Li is also a representative curator of the middle generation in Taiwan. Like his art critiques, his curation works cover various aspects and pose close and comprehensive questions. In recent years, Li's curation works focus mostly on contemporary aesthetics of Chinese calligraphy and painting. He sorted out the situation of Taiwanese ink painting environment, contemporary interpretation of classical aesthetics, and the development of regional styles, contributing to important references. In 2013, Li took up the position of the cocurator of the National Pavilion of Tuvalu, Taiwan's diplomatic ally in the South Pacific, for the 55th Venice Biennale. Such cooperation was the first in the Taiwanese art history. In 2014, he participated in The Taiwanese Tone, the sub exhibition of the Shanghai New Ink Art Exhibition (held at Shanghai Himalayas Museum). By systematically introducing Taiwanese ink art, he received publicity from the Shanghai ink art world.
