Chen is the vice professor of Department of Cultural Industry, Taipei Municipal University of Education. In the beginning Chen devoted to painting.
From 1997 to 1999, he studied art in New York and changed his style and medium into multimedia and conceptual installation. To retain his freedom of creativity, he usually held his solo exhibitions at unconventional art space like Huashan 1914‧Creative Park, Shin Leh Yuan Art Space, and Nanhai Gallery.
Besides, he was dedicated to developing technical art and interdisciplinary art like curating Shin Leh Yuan Art Space Interdisciplinary Art Festival. Also he actively introduced artists of different nationalities and fields, encouraging them to work together.
In 2002, he established Floating Jellyfish Art Group and produced multimedia plays in interdisciplinary way. The art group was invited to perform in several major art festivals.
In 2004, it published DVD book of "The Road Not Taken." Chen has joined Asia Minor Interdisciplinary Creator Network. Chen’s crucial work includes "In-Between"(2001), "Marching‧Differences‧Connection"(2001), "Penetrate"(2002), “Paradise – The Road Not Taken”(2004), "Human Park"(2005), “Endlessness”(2006), and "Tomorrow’s World: Paradise Ocean" (2006), a multimedia dance drama which was written and directed by Chen, put on at Taipei Red Pavilion Theatre.
