It is about a big hole and a long ditch in a construction site. I imagine the big hole as the swimming pool and the long ditch is the water slide leading toward the pool. Every time after the afternoon thunderstorm, the swimming pool will be filled with water and I imagine myself sliding down the water slide and swimming in the pool as if I were in a water park. The still images are the photos of me swimming in this “swimming pool” and sliding down the “water slide,” while the video is about me holding the camera and shooting myself sliding down. However, one cannot sit on the water slide and immediately slides down. Therefore, I had to ask someone to pull my feet down while I was lying on the water slide, holding a camera to film myself. The video seems exciting and speedy, but I had to tolerate the pain when I was filming.
The hole and the ditch were the construction for the groundwork of Taipei National University of the Arts’ new dormitory. The contractor put a waterproof canvas on the hole and the ditch which extended toward the hole to prevent them from being washed away by the rain. It thus helps the once abandoned construction site, where the construction has been halted because Taipei City’s Policy for Hillside Land Development increased the budgets and caused other problems, to find a new life with its present function.
