Venue: Lujou Municipal Hall, Taipei County, Taiwan.
The old name of Lujou was He Shang Zhou, or island in the river, where people kept bees, pigs and grew tangerines as a living during the Japanese Occupation. It has now become a concrete jungle. This got me to give an oasis to Lujou: I invited residents to bring their plants at home to the Municipal Hall where they could write down a piece of memory about their plants. It was recorded and exhibited as a video installation. After the exhibition, the residents could exchange and take the plants home and at the same time adopt the attached memories and emotions. Owing to the media reporting, the adoption went well to conclude the project. I started to fall in love with the strong-willed and beautiful greenery out of affection and respect. It can be seen in my latter works.
