In contemporary Taiwanese residential architecture and living environment, archways make their appearances in various shapes and forms to suit different stylized “flavors,” and its material has changed to simpler and cheaper on, such as plywood. Archway has broken away from its original identity and purpose as structural element. It has been given addi- tional functions transcends itself to be a symbol. A symbol of such kind thus becomes an access for an artist to intervene a space.
