Taitung Art Museum’s public art work “Song of the Sea and Mountains” takes the extended line of the mountain and transforms it into the silhouette of a face. With its natural shape, Dulan Mountain is one of the most visible landmarks in Taitung County. It is also a sacred mountain in the legends of the Amis and Payula aboriginal tribes and an important focal point for aboriginal history and culture. The flowing hair in the work symbolizes the rhythm and energy of the Pacific Ocean, which not only interlinks the location and aesthetics, but also symbolizes how nature has nurtured the diverse peoples of this land. In her resolute wonder, Mother Nature has given sustenance to the rich culture of Taitung and protected the passion for life it embodies, as evidenced by the unique aesthetic of the mountains and ocean.
