Statement:
This piece is a comment and reflection on the ‘Localisation’ movement in Taiwan. After studying Taiwan’s four-hundred years of history, I travelled to each of the six points of landing by six different peoples – taking the idea from my urinating on top of Mt. Jade, I stripped naked on the cold, windy days, copying a dog’s ‘spraying’ to mark territories, and then announced in an art magazine that I took over the whole island. All the photographs were treated to resemble a historical one, a golden urinal in front containing a pill; each has a brief history of the landings, as well as ending with ‘Yao Jui-Chung was here spraying to mark his territory’.
