The sand of Zhuoshui River
1.3km
01 / 10

Zhuoshui River is the mother river of Xiluo Town. It was once known as the largest river in Taiwan, but it has become smaller and different from before. In this project, I did some searching and understanding of the historical evolution of the Zhuoshui River Basin. I found that after the Jiji River Barrage in Nantou began to operate in 2001, it began to redistribute water to agriculture, industry, and people's livelihood. This method was originally intended to provide a stable water source for agriculture, but due to the disparity in seasonal water volume, the downstream faces a normal water shortage, andf making Zhuoshui river gradually appear to be desertified. The problem of extension is air pollution, sand and dust. , Farmers lack of irrigation water and other issues. Therefore, I make this environmental action art work to respond to the environment here. I walked into the riverbed of Zhuoshui River to collect sand, and then walked from the riverbed to the exhibition site step by step. The sand piles are connected by dots on the walking path to form a line, and finally completed the work with the public on the ground in front of the exhibition hall. I respond to this Taiwan’s mother river-Zhuoshui River with my action art creation in the environment.
