The magnetic drawing board creates lines and shapes by attracting metal powder onto a honeycomb-patterned board. The effect of metal powder is similar to graphite powder, thus the magnetic drawing board bears semblance to the traditional sketching aesthetics. It is not only a "toy" but a medium that has possibilities in "aesthetics." Furthermore, this convenient toy coincides with my longtime insistence: seeking the aura of aesthetics from daily life. It is a children's toy without a doubt, but its magnetic particle effect could create unique visual effects and even taste. It allows one, even in play and amusement, to gain possible directions of development. By mimicking world renowned artworks, it implies an ownership of these works in our daily life and also a conversation with a world class aesthetic value. This is why I wanted to play with the magnetic drawing board. Rewriting attempts to conduct a kind of autonomous and self-experimentation with this convenient doodling tool and capture a wisp of aesthetic aura from the contemporary life.
