A poetic installation of Hypertext and physical Concrete poetry, and the main symbol and element of this work is “hair”. Dangling cables from the ceiling, hanging bars of black wax, human hair coated ladder, sofa and bed, fabric out of the surrealistic scene. There is a saying “three thousand strands of worry” which hair is also a symbol of the anxiety between sleep and half-awake with insomnia, and the hair puncture out of gauze make the hair-coated bed and sofa too tingling to rest. On one of the walls are frames with poems written by the artist, and some pictures of surrealism paintings and other images are intertextuality to the poems. There is another wall with photo frames as guestbook, displaying the experience of insomnia shared by the audience. In addition, there are cutting plot poems on each wall of the seven scenes and the contents are intertextuality to each scene. The overall installation of the space can be regarded as an embodiment of the “Hypertext Maze”, which the virtual exhibition space is constructed on the Flash interactive website of Insomnia.
