The sentences contain words such as killing, blood, revenge, wrath, punishment, death, sword, enemy, hate, slay and destroy. This may lead to an interesting case of misrecognition in the Western viewer as s/he assumes that these violent phrases are not rooted in her/his own culture. In these post 9-11 times, Peng illustrates that common conceptions of Islam, particularly in the U.S. and Europe, are in fact closer to home than many recognize.
