“This work tries to pick up abandoned images and end their displacement.”

“Double dissociation,” a proper noun for brain science, as the key concept of this work means to explore whether the human brain region’s mutual influence relationship has an inevitable link and connection. I tried to present the emotional producing process in the field research. Using two boxes of slides I picked and photos I shot, I blended my own experience with five years field research in Zouyin. Based on these, I reproduced “Recalled Images” that belong to an outsider. Using photography as a medium, there is a branch to the politically correct local context, an experience that is more like an unofficial history or outer chapter.

The contents of deteriorated slides by unknown authors included nude westerners, Kaohsiung Harbor, ships, and Dragon and Tiger Tower….some deteriorated images that represented typical Kaohsiung. I selected some pictures I took like abandon beds in military village ruin, scenery nearby Lotus Pond, Kaohsiung Harbor, and Kezailiao….some sort of everyday life images I took during my residency period. I processed those picked up images and the pictures I took in a juxtaposition, sequence, and specimen method.

The abandon beds and outdoor shooting of nude female westerners, Op Art style Double Ten National Day and Presidential Election Day, Dragon and Tiger Tower and Master Tiger temporarily settled at the front seat because of the moving, and other life footages in Kaohsiung, these images escaped from their original context. Composing image sets with emotions, there was an extraterritorial experience that overflowed normal way of seeing. These experiences also smuggled the desire or projected images between images; in some aspects also showed the micro-historical narratives of the place under national desire.

Through the interpretation and operation mentioned above, I tried to explore the logic of image production activities in my works, including abandon images shot by strangers, the double narrative lines with different photography elements, the objecthood of photography and relationship between images and outside damage. With art creating process, the images regenerated after the "dissociation" and became the surviving body in the wasteland after the military village was demolished.
