There is nearly a 10% chance that a foal will be born with a horn. However, the horn would stab into its dam’s inner-thigh while breastfeeding, and thus make her refuse to nurse the foal anymore. If any captive horse is born with a horn, the animal midwife would remove the horn along with its base right before the foal’s primary contact with dam’s breast, whereas for any wild horse born with a horn, it would be abandoned to die by dam immediately after delivery. As claimed by the biologists, the reason why horses carry genes for horns could not be specified yet, especially such gene still exists despite the fact that all the genetically horned horse would not be able to survive in any case.

On the premise of biological theory, this biological knowledge seemed logical but is fabricated indeed, so as to make a mythical creature seem to be real yet remain paradoxical. What I concerned the most is that when we gets certain enjoyment from the text, it has something to with the actual reality that make us fully trust the text. Yet, what does such trust relationship beyond refers to anyway? Take brontosaurus as an example, a kind of ancient creature that is officially recognized by accident due to a mistake made during the bioarchaeological research process. Although later on it has been proved that brontosaurus doesn’t exist, it has been constantly appeared in films and illustrations nowadays, thus becoming a fantasized creature that seem real. Overall, the enjoyment acquired through the process of understanding the text is far more important to me rather than the actual reality.
