The black cylinder is full of thick engine oil. In the middle is a budsprout-like black tissue. When viewers walk into the space, the sensor installation is activated by their bodies. The central tissue will slowly rise up from the engine oil until it reaches the ceiling and it will descend again. The movement keeps repeating. It moves so slow that it can barely be noticed by naked eyes. I am fascinated by the thick black oil. It seems to me that it devours all creatures to accumulate its strong power. In Black No. 1, the black needle-shaped object slowly moves up-and-down in the engine oil as if it were penetrating the invisible space-time. It keeps moving its trembling body as my heart and body tremble with it. The rising is extremely slow that I can feel a strong power being sucked into or pushed out from the engine oil. I cannot help but being silent to confront such an unnoticeable vibration.

It seems present in the journey between one’s birth and death, making me to realize that no creature will expect their death when they are alive but they cannot escape from it. I also realize that no creature will expect that they will be alive again but life is indeed a cycle. Therefore, why should we feel happy about being alive? Why should we feel sad about death? It is merely a short journey. The physical body will gradually disappear after their death, but it will again slowly gather together until it becomes a giant soul-body.
