“Green Splendid” is a 12-surface crystallite structure made up of five sided shapes. In Timaeus Plato mentioned a structure with 12 sides that defined the outline of the cosmos and all living things, and in this work it represents the soul of the artist. The three independent structures are interlocking and extend outwards, signifying the richness and energy of the museum’s impressive collection of art to be passed on to future generations. Green Splendid is connected to an urban green belt landscape and showcases the way in which art permeates experience, by allowing members of the public to walk through the piece. It also uses the natural alternation and coexistence of flora to attract birds and butterflies, thereby creating a garden imbued with spiritual sustenance.
